The day after our awesome wildlife tour with Alan we had a relaxed morning and headed up to a place called Rainforeststation to explore the animal park, go on a duck tour, watch several Aboriginal dances, throw a boomerang and watch spear throwing. It was a jam packed 4 hours. The duck tour was a ride on an old Army duck vehicle. We rode slowly through a small portion of the rainforest and floated around a small ponded area from an old coffee and banana irrigation field. We got to tour around a small animal park and see wild dingos, Tasmanian devils, cassowary, freshwater crocs, saltwater crocs, koalas, wombats, and a variety of parrots. Then we went to watch a series of Aborginal dances which were very interesting. Harper insisted on sitting down in the front row and then went up and danced on stage for the audience participation. It was really cool and the men were very nice. Then we all had a chance to throw a boomerang and watch the spear throwing examples.
After this we drove back to our rental house and grilled up some dinner and hung out to relax and get ready for our next adventure snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.
I took a short run along the beach in the morning and looked at all the shops.
Here’s the kids and Dave enjoying breakfast and cocoa along the beach
A friendly dingo that wanted to get some pets
Even friendlier kangaroos and wallabies
Cute little koalas (i have a video of one crawling over to eat eucalyptus)
Emery and I riding in the Army duck through the forest (it was over 70 years old)
A stag horn fern that was so heavy in the tree that it broke the branch and was over a ton in weight
Aboriginal dance - this was so cool to see the moves and listen to the didgeridoo (video on Facebook)
Group photo with Enry one of the talented Aboriginal people we met
